I'm glad to announce that the undergoing development is really getting forward, and have just published a very first screenshot from the GUI, which still pends from getting the new design ideas implemented.

You can look at it here:

The kiberpipa.org crew did a great job on building a "black box" Burn Station which is now available at the train station in Ljubljana. Some people already burnt their own CDs !
If you are around, you are welcome to enjoy it :)

We'll upload some pictures soon..

Burn Station - Free Media
By: rama  on: Tue 03 Oct, 2006 [22:42 UTC]  (41810 reads)
Burn Station is a free audio distribution system. It can be set up in public and free access spaces - in permanent or temporary events - but it can also be run on your Linux machine at home.

You can use Burn Station to browse and listen to thousands of music and audio tracks. After selecting those you like (make your playlist) you can burn them on a CD and take it home. All for free!!

Many artists and labels have already contributed by publishing their creations. So you are hardly encouraged to do that too!

Watch the Burn Station video clip (8m/55MB):

ATTENTION! You will need a Theora compatible player,
like VLC : http://videolan.org

For more information about Burn Station check this link or NEWS.

The Burn Station will also soon, include videos, texts, pictures and software. Have a look to http://mediabase.r23.cc !

After a great day working on the farm from Mose, Elsa, Thanh, Marc with r1 and aalex in Normandie (France) we are proud to release the first tarball in ages. It will allow non-Debian users to install the burnstation.

This development was kindly hosted by http://laquinarderie.org

You can download it from here: http://burnstation.org/burnstation-1.0rc2.tar.gz

Furthermore, we plan to release the 1.0 final version in some weeks, after several tests and probably fixes. Your feedback is more than welcome!

info
BURN STATION is a mobile copying station which - as it travels through suburban spaces - supports the free distribution music and audio. It is software as well as a local network. But above all BURN STATION is a social event which congregates people together to listen, select and copy net label and net radio audio files with a Copyleft Licence. BURN STATION is an open source and a non-commercial project involving the new means of free networked distribution. It is based on the BURN STATION software which was developed by Platoniq and Rama as a 100% Free software. BURN STATION aims to establish links between the media space and the physical space of the city.
